Every student without a scholarship or sponsorship has to block a certain amount of Euros to come to Germany. The block amount increases approximately every 2 years. The block amount for 2023 and 2024 was 11,208 euros, which is 876 euros more than in 2021 and 2022. And for the next 2025, 696 euros more than in 2023 and 2024. For the coming year 2025, from September 2024, the embassy has informed students to block a total of 11904 euros.
Block increase for student visas only except for other visas is effective from the winter semester on-wards. Therefore, the students are informed to increase the block in the previous year.
✏️✏️✏️✏️Why is this block amount increasing!!!💶💶💶
BAföG provides an estimate of how much it might cost a student each year. The full form of the BAföG is Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz [ Federal Training Support Act ] (pronounced tooth-breaking ban😑). What is called in English is Germany's Federal Training Assistance Act. In continuation of this calculation, they increase the block account amount every 2 years or in some cases after 1 year. However, a student may not need to spend so many euros to get around.
The block amount is also increased taking into account the global economy, inflation, and other cost and commodity price growth areas.
Inflation has increased by around 6% this year compared to last year. In this case, the price increase is about 10%.
But the good news is that every 2-1 years the German government also increases the hourly minimum wage. Last year it was 12 euros per hour which this year stands at 12.41 euros. It is said that it will increase to 12.82 euros per hour next year in 2025.
Considering the overall situation of Bangladesh, the increase of every euro block is a cause of concern for common students like us. Whereas it is difficult for a middle-class person to manage around 16 lakhs (or 1.6 Millions ). And it takes about 20 lakh (or 2Millions) taka along with other expenses to come here. But the block amount is fully refundable no matter what. If someone comes to Germany or if the visa is rejected for any reason, it is returned to the candidate.
As the waiting period for the embassy is increasing, this is the most important thing to think about now. If this waiting period were somehow reduced, then these costs would not seem so bad. Blessings and best wishes to you all.💖
